About Us

Camp Haven opened in January 2014 as the only transformational shelter for homeless and at-risk men of Indian River County. Today, we are still the only program for men. The current capacity is 26 men, 18 in Phase I and 8 in Phase II.  Camp Haven has an Executive Director, Assistant Executive Director, Psychologist and a Case Manager available to assist the residents.  We are dedicated to assisting men to rebuild their lives by holding them accountable, providing transitional housing, education, stability, and encouragement by promoting a sense of community and brotherhood on the campus. We teach the men to get and keep community- based employment, save money, (where applicable) pay child support, get along with others and take personal and financial responsibility for their lives.

Who We Are

Camp Haven is the only transformational shelter for homeless and at-risk men of Indian River County. With your help, we have rebuilt lives, returned men to sobriety, made productive citizens out of broken men, and restored family relations.

Here is the story of one man’s life, Mike!  Mike attended one of the top colleges in the nation, played sports, and after graduation landed a dream job. Then without the structure of school, his life spiraled out of control with drugs and alcohol. In Mike’s words:  “Nobody ever imagines they will end up living on the streets. After a while, I felt like it was just easier to be homeless. I would wait outside of Dunkin' Donuts, so I'd be there when they threw away the donuts. I could carry everything I owned in my backpack,” recalls Mike.  Without an address, he couldn't get a job. “I tried begging for money, but people didn't want to help me. They couldn't understand why a healthy, young man couldn't work. And they were right.”  Mike eventually entered a drug rehab center to treat his addiction, but what was he to do after treatment; no money, home, or job. Then he learned of Camp Haven and joined the program.  “I had a place to go, a bed to sleep in, hot meals, and a shower. I participated in the counseling, programs, and support they offered me. I learned to stop making self-destructive choices and took responsibility for my life. Camp Haven saved my life.”  Mike's story is just one of the many lives that have been changed through a structured framework of counseling, education, sobriety, and support provided since Camp Haven opened.
